I've gotten a lot of requests to start a blog while I am gone, so I am going to try (key word; fingers crossed I keep up with it) and post on here once a week... We shall see how it goes.
Thus far I have taken 4 flights through 4 countries and traveled all of the way to the other side of the world. I flew from Charlotte to New York to Germany to Singapore to New Zealand. Geez. Very cramped, very uncomfortable, lots of screaming children. But I made it here! Also, I somehow managed to mostly escape jetlag! I slept a little bit on the way to Germany and the way to Singapore, but I made myself stay awake the entire flight to New Zealand. Then when I got there, all I wanted was a shower and a bed. By the time I got to where I am staying and took a shower (so needed! so nice!) it was 2 AM and I woke up in the morning around 9. I've been on schedule ever since and it has been great.
The first day I spent with Kaylee, who I am staying with. We went out with one of her friends and her friend's daughter and did some shopping, just going around to various places, and out to eat at a cute little restaurant for lunch. We also went to her sister-in-law's house and I met her nieces and nephews. When we got back we had dinner and I spent some time with her while she made a cake for a friend's birthday.
Today she took me to Davenport, where there are old forts and such from WWII and out to lunch. It is so beautiful here, and I am having so much fun already! On the way home we swung by the American shop (apparently they always go there, but never know what is good to buy) and then by the train station (so I know how to get where I need to go on Monday). I am so blessed and so lucky to have this opportunity! I cannot wait for more! We are about to head out to go swimming at the hot pools... should be a fun time. I am going to get to meet one of the people who I will be working with at my internship, so I am quite excited.
I will post some pictures later after I get back. They haven't all uploaded to my backup yet and I want to post them all at once.
Monday I start my internship! Squee! I cannot wait!
